Job Vacancy: Cashier

The American University of Nigeria, Yola, is recruiting for a Cashier. This position is a local position and open to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.

Duration of Employment: Until December 31, 2018

Position Location: Maiduguri, Borno State.

Summary of Position:

The successful candidate will oversee support function in AUN Maiduguri Project office, work closely with the Finance Assistant on ground and support the program team as necessary. S/he should ensure timely request of petty cash, prepare bank transfer instructions and proper disbursement of funds. S/he should check the justification of operational advances before making payment and ensure settlement of undisputed claims in a reasonable time. S/he will manage petty cash book and reconcile with the Finance assistant on monthly basis. S/he will participate in audits preparation and compilation of audit requirements. The incumbent will reside in Maiduguri and be of service to Maiduguri Project office and with little travel to Yobe State Project office when needed.

Position Requirements:

OND in Accounting, Economics and Business Management.
Experience in managing petty cash.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
A good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word etc.
Ability to organize and set priority.
Experience of working with NGO especially in Northern region will be an added advantage.
Strong critical thinking skills.
Ability to multitask and attention to details.
