Bayelsa Guber: Corps members who served as adhoc staff allegedly missing

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Bayelsa state, has revealed the predicament some National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members that served as adhoc staff to the commission faced during the state’s governorship election.

DAILY POST recalls that the election which held on December 5 and 6, was Monday, declared inconclusive following the cancellation of the rescheduled election in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state where violence reportedly marred the process.

Report says some of the corps member are still being trapped in some troubled areas in the state and their whereabouts, unknown.

In his reaction to the development, the state governor, Seriake Dickson said, “As we speak, we are in the process of working with community leaders and other partners to identify and retrieve youth corps members who were put in danger for no fault of theirs.

“I want to assure the corps members and all stakeholders who will participate in the rescheduled election and other activities, that Bayelsa will continue to be home to them.
