The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has said that about 1,200 Nigerians have been trained under the Welders Training and Certification Programme (WTCP) with a good number of the trained welders fully integrated in the industry as practitioners and qualified instructors, National Mirror reports.
The Head of Press and External Relations, Kalu Otisi, also stated that twelve beneficiaries of the programme have emerged as the first set of Nigerians to acquire International Certification in advanced and specialized welding processes following their successful completion of an advanced welding course at the German Institute of Welding, Eskisehir, Turkey in November 2015.
Executive Secretary, PTDF, Femi Ajayi who handed over their certificates of proficiency and expertise said; “The advanced welding skills imparted to our graduating welders will enable them work in areas previously only available to expatriates. This will lead to a reduction in capital flight with attendant benefits to the nation’s economy”.
